Backstory (short version)
Mar. 14th, 2026 11:17 amHenry Moynihan was born into the Moynihan family, a small-time arm of the Irish Mob that didn’t really signify until Prohibition. His brother was ambitious, setting up a rum-running operation.
Unfortunately, a vampire named Millicent Wellhouse who felt that alcohol was harmful to the Herd as a whole decided to try and take a swing at Henry’s brother by kidnapping Henry in order to destabilize him. While it worked, afterward there was the question of what to do with the kid, who was clever and quirky and caught on quick to what was going on. It led to his Embrace as a vampire and a member of clan Gangrel.
Henry was groomed to be a part of the Invictus, a group of vampires who see themselves as the secret hand behind all human society, cultivating the Herd, but (story of his life) didn’t show the same ambition as those around him, even after being brought into his Sire’s bloodline. Oh, he played games with the kine, integrating into different social groups and seeing what he could learn, but he was not nearly as cutthroat as his fellow Invictus.
(Of course, all of this was cover for him exploring the vampiric Discipline of Protean, the shape-changing powers that come most naturally to clan Gangrel. He is, quietly, one of the most advanced users of the Discipline, able to not just take animal forms or earthmeld, but disappear in a cloud of mist or manifest eviscerating claws. Few realize that he's capable of this level of power.)
In 1978, the Invictus in New York were gearing up for a political coup, and they decided that Henry was a liability, so they politely suggested he might want to find another city to go bother. He didn’t want to go too far, so he arranged for transport to and introductions in Philly (or, for memes, whatever city the thread's taking place in. I am easy).
He’s engaged with almost every dance movement that’s passed him by, but the neoswing movement is a real favorite of his. He can be found at dance competitions, having made a name for himself in the West Coast Swing and electroswing communities.
